Winery Abad Briones… Ribera del Duero

Luis Angel Briones, in love with their land, family of “patients” winegrowers in 2010 embarked on a new modern project -Bodegas Abad Briones- beginning to develop the complexity of the Queen of the varieties of the Ribera del Duero Tempranillo.

Passion and respect he has for his vines are what you want to convey in their wines and all who enjoy them.

Their wines to market recently are attracting the interest of the best critics of our country and the first praise already are sounding.

Vineyard, the earth

The 14 hectares of vineyards planted on trellises and glass, are owned by the Briones family Abad. Gumiel different farms scattered between Market and the municipality of La Horra, in the Ribera del Duero.

They are cultivated vineyards with love and dedication, with great respect for the environment and nature. Comprehensive maintenance work terroir and meticulous care of the vine from planting to manual harvest in boxes of 15 kg. Double selection in vineyard and cellar. It works following biodynamic and ecological guidelines. Small clusters of small grain and high fruit concentration are obtained.

Floors, infertile soil loose and fairly high limestone content. The vineyards are seated at an altitude between 800 and 900 m are aged 14-20 years with maximum yields of 4000-4500 kg/ha.

Continental climate and with slight variations Atlantic. Cold winters and warm summers with major temperature variations between day and night, contributing to slower ripening of the grapes and provides excellent levels of acidity.

Grapes of exceptional quality, small grain clusters of high fruit concentration are obtained.

Production and ageing… the art!

The preparation takes place in the family winery.

The vinification takes place in stainless steel tanks 5000-14000 l. Maceration between 14 and 20 days, depending on the type of wine. Fermentation at controlled temperature of 25 ° C to 28 ° C. Racking guided by the lunar rhythms.

The wines perform malolactic fermentation in barrel. The wine is aged in new barrels, 70% French oak and 30% American, excellent quality and different degrees of roasting. The barrel aging period ranging from 6 to 14 months depending on the type of wine and the evolution of the vintage.

Subsequent aging in bottle until the wine is at its optimum roundness and elegance to its release.
