About Avañate

We have chosen for our small winery, Vinum Vitae, a small-scale and handcrafted development of our wine’s life cycle, starting from the vineyard, the harvest, its elaboration and last but not least, its bottling. Everything is manually performed.

AVAÑATE is a wine with all pure features that define a Ribera del Duero one, full bodied, mighty and with an intense color, brewed in French oak barrels for 12 months and rounded further 12 months in its bottles.

It a wine coming from old vines, some of them belonging already to the owner’s grandmother,  100% tempranillo type, the most noble Spanish grape variety. Our vines were planted on lands with gravels in the depth and sand in the surface that grant a firm and tannic tone to our wine.

Elaboration

Signature wine made from grapes of Tempranillo vineyards manually harvested making a viticulture integrated with the environment. Selection of grapes in the vineyard and in the winery.

After a pre-fermentation, cold maceration  and subsequent alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks at a maximum temperature of 28ºC, its breeding is performed in French oak barrels for 12 months to get it sophisticated, respecting the fruit and allowing it to harmonize with the timber.

It is bottled without filtration or stabilization and without submitting it to any treatment, displaying its personality and qualities from the fruit of the earth.

Tasting notes

Color: Intense cherry red color with purplish thin trim, clean and bright.

Norse: Complex and powerful flavor from very ripe black fruit (plums, currants, blackberries) and woody notes (spices, toffee, coffee, vanilla) well assembled.

Palate: The palate is well structured, broad and fleshy, with good balance between acidity and alcohol, wine with soft tannins.
