Cantamuda Red WIne

About Cantamuda Parcela 64 and Abad-Briones Winery

A wine from Roa de Duero, right in the heart of Ribera del Duero… an exciting and innovative project.
Luis Angel Briones was born and raised in a family of winemakers and could be called a rebel with a cause!  In 2010, with the tireless support of his partner Carmen, his dreams became a reality when they acquired their own vineyard adding it to other properties passed down through the family.

Luis Angel and Carmen have named it Cantamuda, after an enchanting place, that holds special memories for them.

We are a small winery and when we started to make the wine, we needed a name and a design for it. But we just know how to make wine and had to contract a designer to make our wines eye-catching. When he came to visit us he asked for details about my wife and me lives. I told him that I had asked my wife to marry me when visiting the Cantamuda monastery, a romanic one in the north of Spain. And he thought it was an important name that our ‘child’ had to wear. The “child’s” family name: Parcela 64

Tasting notes

Look: Intense colour of picota cherries with hints of maroon. Clean and bright

Nose: Intense and complex with aromas of ripe fruit compôte, heavy with blackberry and plum and blending in just the right proportion with barrel scents of coffe, clove and toffee. You’ll also detect the subtle fragance of liquorice, characteristic of the Tempranillo varietal.

Palate: Loaded with quality, bags of expressivity and mouth-watering complexity. Enters like the well-structured wine it is: fleshy, expressive, smooth and full-bodied and passage through the mouth is very well-balanced. The tannins are ripe with no rough edges, giving embracing notes that persist to an extremely pleasant finish.
