Dominio Basconcillos ecological wines!

When Dominio Basconcillos decided to launch its winery project, the Basconcillos family looked to the commune of Gumiel de Izan, part of the Ribera region that has the longest wine making tradition. It was here that the Benedictine monks introduced grape Domino Basconcillos, Vendimia, Viña Magnagrowing around their monastery and taught wine making, and where the most extreme microclimatic conditions are found and can be used to obtain fruit with more intense flavour and aromas.

Located at the extreme northern end of the Ribera del Duero, the vineyards of  Domino Basconcillos cover 50 hectares of the sloping hillsides that rise to 1000 metres above sea level. Bathed by the midday sun and refreshed by a constant northern breeze the vineyards benefit from the very specific characteristics of their location: moderate to low rainfall hot, dry summers – with high daily temperature differences – and a cold and long winter. In short a Mediterranean climate, with a Continental aspect. These ground and climate conditions, together with the winery’s philosophy of respecting the natural environment means that the vines are cared for according to the principle of minimum processing; using natural products and manual work resulting in totally organic wines.
