Una Rubia craft beerUna Rubia beer company arise from a group of young people’s  willingness to work and learn. Beer loving, started making it at home in the craftiest possible way. After having made a thesis on it for a Master, they decided to turn their hobby into a business.

They place their first beer (an American Pale Ale) in the marketplace in March 2014. Its label shows the pic of a blonde woman (word game of the beer, the beer’s name and the woman’s hair colour).

In this 2nd year of the company, as a result of their collaboration with another beer company from Burgos, they have placed a new beer in the marketplace: a black wheat one which image is a kraft paper wrapping  the whole bottle… ‘The dark side of Wheat

The team is young, vibrant and eager to learn and innovate, characterized being risky in the image of their products. The company’s philosophy is to choose trying to get most of the raw materials in their own county, to support the local economy. They respect the environment and the traditional production methods so that the customer can get the best quality ever.

Elaboration

Craft beer “Una Rubia” (“a blonde” in english) is an indian pale ale one with a 5% alcohol and 36 IBUs.

Made with 100% natural ingredients, malt used as a base to make it is a pale Ale one, together with other caramelized ones. Hops used to make it are very common ones on style Columbus and Cascade.

Tasting notes

Look: bright and a bit murky with a dense and persistent froth.
Flavour: Intense fruity flavour and also to grains and hops, grapefruit, roasted coffee, tobacco and dark chocolate.
Taste: Long but nice bitterness. Plenitude in the mouth, long, very toasted malt, coffee, juniper, chocolate, grapefruit… and some smoke touches.
Pairing: as an appetizer, with aged sheep cheese, pickles, dried fruits or chicken, stewed meats but not too spicy.

Craft beer ‘The dark side of Wheat’ …a Dunkel Weizen type with a 7% alcohol and 20 IBUs.

Look: With a strong toasted next to black colour, got by the combination of a german wheat beer and a black beer. The froth has a caramel colour and is dense and persistent.
Flavour: Regarding flavours, banana, toasted malts, roasted coffee and black coffee ones can be discerned.
Pairing: Very very refreshing and easy to drink, combining with main dishes as well as with desserts (its ideal pairing)
