El Cid and Company’s Conquests

When El Cid conquers, he really does it. He did so in the whole Burgos centre yesterday. A good organization, whith the unselfish work of many people and very powerful allies, those ones that help tip the scale either to success or failure: sun and good weather. The exiled one was nordeast wind, the one that makes this land shrink.

Cidiano weekend permeated the whole capital atmosphere with life, scents and flavours, music and the sound of swords and horseshoes in its 7th edition.  A thousand knights and damsels of all ages and social groups, some of them coming from far away, got dressed as medieval people to serve a populous market, to entertain the public in an appealing parade lasting an hour and a half ended by 45 splendid horses from the Burgos Friends of Horses Association and further 10 ones coming from the Jiloca (Teruel) lands.

In this conquests morning, mobile’s one could not fail by inmortalize thousands of scenes.

The six Henry Moore’s sculptures installed in the Santa María bridge and in front of the Arch with the same name watched with surprise a massive flow of friends and families looking for medieval “stages”. Pilgrims and tourists looked pretty lost in view of all the fuss in the streets and squares of the city centre.

In this sheltered space the protagonists were the small ones, who enjoyed puppets, mandala workshops, archery, nursery…
