It is not easy for a local producer to attend a fair: they would have to leave either their premises or their selling point, sometimes both of them, to explore a new marketplace, look for contacts… effort that will take months, at best, to become a new business. If the event takes place abroad, the adventure becomes a saga and obstacles, economic as well, increase. But there are always some “marco polos” or “colons” eager to try to succeed or fail for the things they believe in.

@BurgosAlimenta launched the idea among its associates to attend the Speciality & Fine Food Fair, the most important fair of gourmet food and drinks in the UK to take place in September. Delicias de BurgosQuesos de Santa Gadea, Embutidos de Cardeña, Cerveza Dolina, Quesos de Sasamón, Cerveza Mica,  and Almendras de Sarralde have seized the opportunity.

Most of them have already attended some other fairs under Burgos County Council mark, being Madrid Fusión the recent one. 15 Burgos companies travelled to Madrid then and 7 companies are now going to travel to London, what reveals how attractive this London event is. 600 exhibitors from 21 different countries where in the Olimpya Exhibition Centre in 2014 fair. 12.400 chefs, distributors, importers and people belonging to the catering market visited it.

Leopoldo Roldán and his online shop Delicias de Burgos have decided to explore this new  marketplace and will take 200 goods from thecwhole county with him, being most of them from small producers that have no way to attend foreign marketplaces on their own

With products like Hispanic-Breton horses cecina (similar to ham) Ribera and Arlanza wines, pâtes, jams, dairy, … “We have chosen the ones that we think will suit the country’s likes“, explains Mr Roldán.

They are now working on the translation of all the leaflets they will share in the fair, from their slogan #ConMuchoGusto to the tasting cards and the products descriptions. To see him together with the black pudding marketing king, Roberto da Silva, selling black pudding nachos will be a show.
